After spending $50 million of her own money in her first Senate run, former wrestling executive Linda McMahon has been spending and loaning her campaign far less as she makes a second bid.

Figures from the Federal Election Commission show McMahon loaned her campaign about $5.1 million as of mid-May, compared with nearly $17 million adjusted for inflation at the same point in her first run in 2010.

She's spent about $3.8 million this time as of late April, compared with about $15 million she had spent in her first run around the same time.

The Republican has less of a need to buy advertising this time because she is better known. Her campaign is also aware that many voters in 2010 found her avalanche of ads annoying and excessive.
