President Barack Obama has won a second term and secured Connecticut's seven electoral votes on Tuesday.

The unofficial results, with 85 percent of precincts reporting, show Obama securing 58 percent of the vote and Republican former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney securing 41 percent.

Both candidates made stops in Connecticut over the course of their campaigns and raised funds here.

Obama and Joe Biden also won Connecticut in 2008.
