Republican Governor Candidates to Face Off in Debate

Five of the six Republicans hoping to become Connecticut's next governor are expected to face off in their first debate.

Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton, Senate Minority Leader John McKinney of Fairfield, Shelton Mayor Mark Lauretti, Avon attorney Martha Dean and former West Hartford Town Councilman Joe Visconti are expected to appear April 11 for the noontime event, to be held at the Mark Twain House.

Greenwich businessman Tom Foley, the GOP's candidate in 2010, is not expected to attend the debate.

Connecticut Republicans are endorsing candidates for the party's 2014 slate on May 16 and 17. Some candidates have said they hope win enough support at the state convention to qualify for a primary.
