Boatright Ready to Defend National Title

Boatright and his teammates are focused on getting back to the Final Four

The Huskies are atop the preseason AAC coaches poll and senior point guard Ryan Boatright has every intention of not only living up to that, but helping UConn repeat as national champions.

And it starts with him, the de facto team leader now that Shabazz Napier has graduated.

"Ain’t no getting around that,” Boatright said at Wednesday's AAC media day, via SNY.com. “I know it and everybody else knows it, that it’s my turn to lead the team. My main thing is winning another championship and I know that it’s gonna take everybody on my team from me all the way down to the practice players to do that.”

So just how focused is Boatright and his teammates?

“All we worried about is getting back to the Final Four, winning games, winning another championship. Everything else, it doesn’t matter.”

This isn't a new mindset, either. It's been the plan pretty much since the Huskies returned home last April from their last title.

“Soon as we got back we was talking about winning another championship,” Boatright said. “We won Monday night, it started Tuesday, getting your mind mentally prepared.”
