For Connecticut Yankees fans, a trip to the ballpark is getting easier. Next month, a train will take pin-striped Nutmeggers direct to Yankee Stadium.
Metro-North is launching direct train service on the New Haven line staring Saturday, May 23 for a game between the Yankees and the Philadelphia Phillies.
As many as 10,000 fans are expected to ride to the new Yankees-153rd Street station on game days. And hopefully people will keep their foam fingers, baseball gloves and fanatical opinions to themselves.
The New Haven and Harlem lines will have direct service to and from the stadium on weekends.
On weeknights, fans will have to catch a shuttle at the 125th Street station. But after games, trains will take the fans from the stadium into Connecticut.
