9 Make it Safely Out of New Haven Multi-Family Home Fire

Nine people, including two children, made it out safely from a multi-family home fire in New Haven. The fire broke out of a three unit home on Rowe Street Wednesday afternoon, New Haven Fire Chief John Alston said.  Seven adults and two children were in the home when the fire started but were able to get out. One man suffered from an burn to his arm and was taken to the hospital, Alston said.  Alston noted that wind and cold weather were big factors while fighting this fire because when temperatures are low and winds are strong, it's hard to see the smoke and hard to determine how severe the fire is. Wind will also move the flames very quickly. Fire officials are now concerned about freezing water on the roads.

Quinnipiac Holds Pep Rally Before Sweet 16

The Quinnipiac Women’s Basketball team held its final practice in Hamden Wednesday afternoon before flying out to northern California Thursday morning. The team has already made history by winning the program’s first two NCAA Tournament games. The Bobcats will look to make it three in a row with an upset of top seeded South Carolina on Saturday. “Making history is something, but making history twice, unreal and it’s really hard to explain the feeling,” said senior guard Adily Martucci. A two-step ladder brought to center court after practice represents the run by the team so far in the Big Dance. “We won the first two games and those two steps are gone and we kind of needed a bigger ladder," Martiucci said. So at the send-off pep rally outside the TD Bank Sports Center, Head Coach Tricia Fabbri fired up fans and students from inside the bucket on a Hamden fire truck ladder. “The way that we were goin

London Car Rampage, Stabbing Leave Attacker, 4 Others Dead

A knife-wielding man went on a deadly rampage in the heart of Britain's seat of power Wednesday, plowing a car into pedestrians on London's Westminster Bridge before stabbing a police officer to death inside the gates of Parliament. Five people were killed, including the assailant, and 40 others were injured in what Prime Minister Theresa May condemned as a "sick and depraved terrorist attack." Lawmakers, lords, staff and visitors were locked down after the man was shot by police within the perimeter of Parliament, just yards (meters) from entrances to the building itself and in the shadow of the iconic Big Ben clock tower. He died, as did three pedestrians on the bridge, and the police officer.

GOP Health Bill on the Brink Hours From House Showdown Vote

The GOP's long-promised legislation to repeal and replace "Obamacare" stood on the brink just hours before Republican leaders planned to put it on the House floor for a showdown vote. Short of support, GOP leaders looked to President Donald Trump to close the deal with a crucial bloc of conservatives, in the first major legislative test of his young presidency.
