Guilford Olympian to Coach at Yale

Sarah Trowbridge will be an assisant with the women's crew team

Olympic rower and Guilford native Sarah Trowbridge has a new job to come home to after the London Games.

Trowbridge has been hired as an assistant coach with the women's crew team at Yale, according to the university.

"Sarah will be a great addition to our program," said Yale head coach Will Porter in a statement on the Yale Athletics website. "She has a wealth of knowledge having rowed at Michigan and trained with the USA team.

Trowbridge didn't begin rowing until her senior year at Guilford High School. She won two Big 10 championships at the University of Michigan and will be competing in the double sculls in London.

"I am really looking forward to joining the Yale team," Trowbridge said via Yale Athletics. "Coming to the position with such a recent history as an athlete will help me to relate my coaching more accurately to the rowers. I also hope to excite the women with my experiences on the Olympic team and encourage them to push the limits on their own speed."

The rowing competition takes place in the first week of the Olympic Games. It was unclear when Trowbridge will be back in Connecticut to begin her new position.
