Huskies Are Bowl Eligible and in the Hunt for Big East Title

Don't look now, but here come the Huskies. The UConn football team earned its first road win this season on Saturday night at Syracuse.

In the process, they not only became bowl-eligible, but Randy Edsall's resurgent bunch are also now in the thick of the Big East Conference title race.

The Huskies have struggled on the road this season against Michigan, Temple, Rutgers and Louisville, according to Bleacher Report, but, Jordan Todman ran roughshod over the overmatched Orange defense, amassing 130 yards and two touchdowns in the win. And, the Huskies defense came up big.

The win ensures a bowl game for UConn, but even better, the Huskies also have a realistic a chance to win the Big East outright for the first time ever.

UConn is tied with West Virginia at 3-2 and a game behind Pittsburgh.

If the Huskies win their remaining two games -- against Cincinnati and at South Florida --  and West Virginia beats Pittsburgh on Saturday, Edsall's boys would be conference champs and go to a BCS bowl for the first time ever, according to ESPN's Big East blog.

Regardless, UConn is almost certain to be headed to a post-season bowl for the fourth straight season.
