Jalen Adams Ready for UConn

Jalen Adams, who is known as a scorer, is also developing as a point guard.

The Huskies' 2014-15 season hasn't gone as planned, but 2015-16 will welcome Jalen Adams, the 25th-ranked recruit in the country, according to ESPN.com.

Adams, who is known as a scorer, is also developing as a point guard, something UConn will need with Ryan Boatright's graduation looming.

“Jalen is definitely showing people that he’s not just a scorer, he’s able to run an offense, facilitate, and make great decisions and become more of a point guard. I think that’s something he’ll have to do more for Coach Ollie at UConn, he’s been doing it for us,” coach Jason told MassLive.com. “He knows some games he could go out and score 25 or 30, and he’s kind of taken the mindset of ‘I have to make sure I get others involved. I have these other pieces around me, but I have to distribute the ball.”

After a recent 23-point performance -- with Kevin Ollie looking on, no less -- there's already talk that Adams will be the next great point guard to take the floor for the Huskies.

“I wish I could be up there," Adams said. "I talk to Kevin Ollie a lot and he always tells me that. But I think they’ll be good later on the season when they find out who’s who and who can do what. I definitely don’t want to follow anybody’s path, I kind of want to create my own. But I’m looking forward to carrying the tradition.”
