Patriots Reign Supreme in the Snow

The records fell just as hard as the snow Sunday afternoon in Foxborough

The New England Patriots and Tom Brady partied like it was 2007 and dressed like it 1963 as they rolled over the defenseless Tennessee Titans, 59-0. Yep, you read that right, 59-0.

Brady only played two-thirds of the game but he still managed to rack up 380 yards passing and six touchdowns while completing 29 of 34 throws. He matched the number of TD throws he had thrown in the first five games this season.

Five of those tosses came in the record-setting second quarter, a new NFL record.

Patriots led, 45-0, at the half, a new NFL record.

The Patriots set a club record in total yards with 619, most passing yards with 426 and most points in a quarter with 35.

They tied team records with most touchdowns in a game with eight, most passing touchdowns in a game with six and most passing yards with 426.

Patriots improved to 11-0 at Foxborough when it is snowing.

Patriot wide receiver Wes Welker caught 10 passes for a career-high 150 yards.

Through the first five games, the Patriots' longest play from scrimmage was just 36 yards. In the first half they had three (45-yard runs and two passes of 40 and 38 yards) that were longer.

The loss sent the winless Titans further into despair. Their last three losses are by a combined 101 points. Remember, in 2008 this same team started 10-0 and had the NFL’s best record at 13-3.

The Patriots didn’t even punt the ball till there was 4:13 left in the game.

Titans QB Kerry Collins completed two of 12 passes for, wait for it -- negative-7 yards. That’s right an NFL quarterback passing for negative yards.

Finally, during one 17-play stretch during that second quarter, the Titans allowed three scoring passes, lost two fumbles and threw an interception. That is as bad a stretch of football as you’ll ever see.

So maybe that’s what the Pats needed, a little winter weather to get their swagger back. Maybe now they can put those brutal Pat the Patriot uni’s back in mothballs.
