Ray Allen Foundation Donates Computer Lab in Hartford

NBA All Star and University of Connecticut Alumnus Ray Allen is set to make an appearance this coming Monday at the Simpson-Waverly Public School in Hartford to help open its’ new computer laboratory.

Allen’s Ray of Hope Foundation has donated a “state-of-the-art” computer laboratory to the students at Simpson-Waverly, a Pre-K to 8th grade school.

The lab, which has been under construction for several weeks, will include 30 new desktop computers in addition to a completely refurbished classroom. 

This computer lab marks the 5th such donation made by the Ray of Hope Foundation to a Hartford Public School including labs at Hartford’s Museum Academy at Wish School, John C. Clark Jr. Elementary and Middle School, the McDonough Expeditionary Learning School and SAND Elementary School.

The Ray of Hope Foundation was established by Allen in 1997 to assist with sports and community related programs which provide opportunities helping youth to realize their full potential.

The unveiling is set for 8:30 a.m.  Allen will be joined by Superintendent Beth Schiavino-Narvaez and Principal Leonardo Watson for the ceremony.
