Patriots, Red Sox, Bruins: Busy Day for Boston Sports Fans

Thursday is going to be a very busy day for Boston sports fans.

It all starts with the Red Sox kicking off the American League Divisional Series against the Houston Astros Thursday afternoon, followed by the Boston Bruins facing off against the Nashville Predators in their season opener, and finally the New England Patriots playing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday Night Football.

Lots of eyes are on the Red Sox as they come off a bumpy season, despite taking the AL East for a second year in a row. Chris Sale had a rough September, but is starting the post-season healthy, giving the Sox a good chance in the series. Drew Pomeranz will start Game 2.

The Red Sox-Astros game starts just after 4 p.m. in Houston, and that will be followed by the puck dropping at TD Garden at 7 p.m.

After mixed results last season, the Bruins' roster for the 2017-18 season is filled with younger, faster and hopefully hungrier players.

Bruce Cassidy has the reigns full-time now after stepping in as interim coach following the firing of longtime former coach Claude Julien in February of last season.

Shortly after the Bruins start their season, the Patriots-Buccaneers game kicks off at 8:25 p.m. in Tampa.

With two wins and two losses so far, the Patriots are looking to bounce back from a loss to the Panthers.

The key to winning against Tampa Bay, according to NBC Boston's Raul Martinez, is for the defense to wake up.
