UConn Keeps Bowl Hopes Alive
By UCONN MUST BEAT SYRACUSE TO BECOME BOWL ELIGIBLE.

They've been Big East Cellar Dwellers for a long time, but Syracuse has UConn's attention.
The 4-7 Orange are the Huskies' roadblock to becoming bowl eligible. Both teams are coming off big wins. The Huskies stunned Notre Dame in South Bend this weekend. The Orange upset Rutgers, 31-13, who just the week before put a beatdown on South Florida.
The 'Cuse will be dealing with a UConn football team that finally figured out how to win a close game. After five losses by a total of just 15 points, UConn beat Notre Dame Saturday in double overtime, 33-30.
It was the first win since the team lost star player Jasper Howard, who was killed in a stabbing on the Storrs campus.
Edsall says Syracuse's record is deceiving and is warning his players to not take the Orange lightly.
"I would hope, as coaches, we've always tried to tell them that last week doesn't matter this week," Edsall said. "It's a one-game season. They saw what Syracuse did to Rutgers. All they have to do is put the film on, the film doesn't lie. Just watch the opponent. They're a good football team."
Kickoff is Saturday at noon at Rentschler Field.
