Wild Win for Westport Little Leaguers

Westport beats Washington 14-13 to head to the U.S. Championship game.

The Westport Little League team edged out Washington 14-13 this afternoon in its fourth game of the Little League World Series.

Westport now has a 3-1 record and, if all goes well, could head to the championship on Sunday.

The 11- to 13-year-olds from Connecticut will battle the undefeated West again tomorrow.

They've played Washington before. Westport, representing New England, beat out the Northwest team from Sammamish, Wa. last Sunday.

Westport also beat the Southeast team from Nashville, Tenn. They fell to the undefeated West from Chula Vista, Calif. on Wednesday.

The team headed to South Williamsport, Pa. earlier this month to face off against 15 other national and international teams competing for the title of world champion.

The championship game will be held Sunday, Aug. 25 at 3 p.m.

Opening ceremonies were held last Thursday morning. All games are broadcast on ESPN.
