5 Baby Raccoons Mysteriously Left on Doorstep With Toys, Milk in New York

Five well-fed baby raccoons were mysteriously left on the doorstep of a county health department in New York Friday.

The month-old raccoons were delivered to the Westchester County Health Department's office in Mount Kisco in a cage with bottles of milk, blankets and toys. They appeared to have been well cared for and nurtured.

But while they are cute, they also raise concerns because raccoons are among the most common carriers of rabies.

The disease is fatal if not quickly treated. The health department says whoever left the raccoons should call to be assessed for the possibility of rabies.

Meanwhile, the babies have been placed with a wildlife rehabilitator.
