In a “cuckoo” scheme to steal money, a Brazilian man tried to open a bank account using a fake ID with a photo of Oscar-winner Jack Nicholson's face.
Police arrested Ricardo Sergio Freire de Barros, 41, in the northeastern city of Recife and charged him with using false documents and forgery, according to Brazilian news channel Globo (via Huffington Post).
"The document with the photo of the actor and other false identification were used to start a fictitious company and with it, also open a bank account," said Erivaldo Guerra, the officer leading the investigation.
"That way, he would use the limits on the checks and the credit cards" to steal money.
The suspect, who police said bore no resemblance to Nicholson, 74, was also carrying identification documents belonging to other people. Authorities released a copy of the phony ID, which features a photo of acclaimed actor Jack Nicholson — who has won Oscars for “One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest,” “Terms of Endearment and “As Good as It Gets” — alongside a fingerprint and the signature of “Joao Pedro dos Santos.”
The suspect, who denies the charges, was taken to the police station and later sent to a nearby hospital for a mental evaluation.
