A Higganum man accused of challenging passersby to fights in Middletown stripped off his clothes at police headquarter, posed for an unusual photo and hurt his hands by punching cell walls, police said.
Police said Daniel Cansdale, 41, of Dublin Hill, was shirtless at Main and Washington streets just before 11 p.m. on Saturday and trying to get people passing by to fight him.
When police responded, he said “let’s do this boys,” and took a fighting stance, police said.
When police asked Candsale for identification, he pulled his ID from his pocket and a glass tube filled with “charboy” fell to the sidewalk, police said.
Police said he also had a small bag of cocaine as well.
Candsale did not cooperate with police and officers were not able to process him until 5 a.m. on Sunday, police said.
When Cansdale was placed in a cell, he stripped, punched the walls, banged his head on them and “took a prone position in the nude on all four limbs and displayed his sphincter to the camera,” according to the arraignment report.
He was released on a $5,000 non-surety bond and taken to Middlesex Hospital emergency room because his hands were swollen from punching the walls, police said.
Cansdale is due in court on Aug. 8.
