Paul Leka might be best known for composing the song "Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye," but he probably didn't expect to kiss his $3,000 statue of Jesus goodbye.
According to police, that and more was taken from Leka's Sharon estate, the Register Citizen reports.
The bronze Jesus is among several items that police say were stolen from Leka since 2008 and apparently they didn't have to look far to see who took off with Jesus, antique rugs, and more.
Erica Proper, 27, an employee of the estate, admitted her involvement in the thefts, the Register Citizen reports. In statements to police, Proper implicated her boyfriend Jesse Finley -- who was also an employee of the estate. A warrant has been issued for his arrest, the newspaper reports.
Some of the stolen items were found in a Poughkeepsie, New York pawn shop, where the owner says he has dealt with Proper and Finley in the past.
Other items were found in Cortland, New York, where police say they were being stored. Jesus, Mary, the rugs and other stolen items have been recovered.
Proper posted $7,500 bond and is due back in court on July 14. She is charged with second-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit second-degree larceny.
