Woman Throws Hot Coffee at Officer: Police

Waterbury police arrested a woman they said threw hot coffee at a officer's face, hours after he charged her with driving under the influence of angel dust.

Police told the Republican-American that Officer Michael Terzigni was parked at a local Home Depot on Wednesday morning when Trena Grant, 30, of East Hartford ran up to his car and asked him if he wanted a free cup of coffee, then threw the coffee at his face.

Terzigni was off-duty in his personal car, but wearing his police uniform and arrested Grant again after a struggle.

He wasn't seriously hurt.

Grant is detained on $50,000 bail on charges including assault on a police officer. A message seeking comment was left for her public defender Friday.

She was charged with assault on a public safety officer, resisting arrest and third-degree criminal mischief. 

According to court records
, Grant was also charged with drug possession and larceny in Wallingford in February.

She is due in court on April 14 to face the Waterbury charges.
