Michael Ratte

Michael Ratte is a Rhode Island native who attended Rhode Island College in Providence. He graduated in 1984 with BA in Communications/Journalism.

He has worked at WTWS-TV in New London, WMUR-TV in Manchester, N.H., WGGB-TV in Springfield, Mass., and WLVI-TV in Boston.

Ratte has covered all three Patriots Super Bowl Championships in New Orleans, Houston and Jacksonville. He also covered the first Red Sox World Championship in 86 years in St. Louis in 2004.

He hosted the John Calipari UMass Basketball show in the mid 90s during their peak, in which the Minutemen became the number one team in the country and went to multiple NCAA tournaments. Ratte traveled the country covering those teams that included trips to Hawaii and Alaska.

He received an Associated Press Best Sportscast award in 1995, 2003 and 2005. He won an Edward R. Murrow award in 2005 as well as a Boston/New England Emmy.

When not covering sports for NBC Connecticut, Ratte said he enjoys playing golf.
