Hasheem Thabeet and the Huskies dropped to No. 5 in the Associated Press poll.

For the first time this season, the UConn men are out of the No. 2 spot in the Associated Press poll.  The Huskies dropped to No. 5 after suffering their first loss of the season when they lost 74-63 to Georgetown.

UConn completed the week by blowing out Rutgers 80-49.

The Big East has a record nine teams in the poll, including the No. 1 team in the country, Pittsburgh.  The 14-0 Panthers moved into the top spot taking 70 of 72 votes.  No. 3 North Carolina received the other two votes.

Pitt is the first Big East team to hold the No. 1 spot in the poll since UConn was atop on March 6, 2006.

  • Food for thought Tuesday, Jan 6 at 12:55 PM FLAG COMMENT Its amazing to me how Uconn looses to a #8 team and UNC looses to a team UNRANKED but yet they are still ahead of Uconn in the Polls. Dont get me wrong, Uconn played terribly and deserved to be dropped down but this just shows how Bias these polls are simply not accurate. NCAA needs to take another look how this voting is actually done and stop having it be based on Booster contributions.......
