NBC Connecticut Internship Program

A valuable program designed to give experience in the field of professional broadcasting
Thank you for your interest in the NBC Connecticut Internship Program. The program is designed to provide college students of junior, senior and graduate level class standing the opportunity to explore careers in the broadcasting industry providing meaningful and practical business experience which will generate college credit.

NBC Connecticut has three internship sessions yearly: spring, summer and fall. This is an unpaid internship for college credit only. Our interns are considered trainees and not employees under the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1973.

Each student is assigned to a station supervisor for the duration of the internship. NBC reserves the right to terminate a student's internship at any point for reasons such as misconduct, poor attendance, insubordination or other serious problems.

Upon the offer of an internship, the actual start date will be determined mutually by the supervising sponsor and the student.

Application Deadlines For NBC Connecticut Interns

Dec. 1, for spring semester
Aug. 1, for fall semester
April 15, for summer semester

Requirements

To be eligible for an NBC Connecticut Internship, you must be registered as a junior, senior or graduate student in good standing at an accredited college or university. There are no exceptions. The registration must apply for the full duration of the internship.

You must receive university or college credit for participating in the program. Again, no exceptions. The amount of course credit to be earned is determined and verified by your school. To receive course credit, you must comply with all school requirements as well as all NBC Connecticut requirements. You should be fully aware of your school's internship requirements before applying for the NBC Connecticut internship program.

How to Apply

Eligible students must complete an NBC Connecticut Internship application. Answers to the questions should be as specific as possible in identifying career goals, expectations and areas of work interest. Your school internship coordinator or your advisor must complete the bottom portion of the application (Course Credit Verification) before submitting to NBC Connecticut.  Failure to secure and return written verification will disqualify your application.

Once submitted, qualifying applications will be contacted for interviews with the appropriate department's management and each department will make their own intern selections.

Unfortunately, because of the volume of applicants received each semester, internship interviews are not guaranteed to all who apply. In the event you are not chosen for an internship for the semester in which you have applied, but are interested in re-applying for another semester, you will be required to submit a new application in order to secure accurate and current course certification.
