Gerry also served as news director for WAVZ radio in New Haven, and as a reporter for WMAS radio in Springfield, Mass.

Gerry has had a hand in covering virtually every major news, weather, and sports story in Connecticut since 1974, including the death of Gov. Ella Grasso, the resignation of Gov. John Rowland, the collapse of the Mianus River Bridge on I-95, every Greater Hartford Open (Travelers Championship) golf tournament, and the UConn basketball championships.

A two-time Emmy award winner, Gerry is involved in several community and charity efforts in Connecticut.   In 2008, he was inducted into the Silver Circle of the New England Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, an honor for some who have been in broadcasting for 25 years or more.

He and his wife Kathy, a flight attendant, enjoy a quiet dinner at home as much as they enjoy traveling the world.

He also contributes his blog, The Brooks File, http://brooksfile.wordpress.com/ to NBCConnecticut.com.
