Marla joined NBC Connecticut in April 2007 as a general assignment reporter. Most recently, she had worked as a freelance reporter for NBC newschannel in New York City covering the aftermath of the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001. She also worked as a freelance reporter for News12 Connecticut and News 12 Westchester.
Marla started as the Assignment Editor/Reporter at WMGM-TV NBC 40 in Atlantic City, N.J. and was soon promoted to weekday morning anchor, and then the weekday 11 p.m. anchor.
From there, she went to WBRE-TV, the NBC affilliate in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Pa.., where she was the weekday morning and noon anchor.
After getting engaged, she followed her heart and soon-to-be husband to Minneapolis, Minn., where she worked as a general assignment reporter at KARE-11, the NBC affilliate. Fluent in Spanish, she traveled with Govenor Jesse Ventura to Mexico City for his trade mission and met with Presidente Vicente Fox and former Presidente Zedillo. She was also nominated for an emmy for her team coverage of the tragic plane crash that killed golfer Payne Stewart.
Eventually, she moved back east to New York City and started a family.
Marla and her husband, Jason, now live in Darien, Conn. with their two daughters. She is active as a board member for the National Corporate Theatre Fund in New York City, and a member/volunteer of OPUS Person-to Person in Darien. She enjoys traveling with her husband and girls, especially skiing in the winter out west and hitting the Jersey shore in the summer.
