St. Baldrick's Day was celebrated in Hartford and across the country to raise money for pediatric cancer.

St. Patrick’s Day became St. Baldrick’s Day in Hartford Tuesday.

More than 30 people shaved their heads for the Childrens Cancer Research Charity.  It’s a national fundraiser, but Hartford’s “shave” at the Society Room gathered the most donations, raising more than $450,000.

Porter Dowling is the Avon High School freshman who brought the event to Connecticut.  “I never thought so many people would make the cut”, Dowling said.

Dowling thought of the charity after meeting pediatric cancer patients when he was at Boston Childrens Hospital for two brain tumor operations.
