Hartford's Webster Theater is no longer a family-owned business.

The Robertson family, who has run the theater since 1937, sold the property to MassConcerts, a company based in Worcester, Mass.

The theater originally showed movies, but went on to become a music venue. Artists including Kid Rock, No Doubt and Jay-Z have taken the stage.

"This venue is strong as ever, said Rick Bober, Webster's production manager. "I think, now with MassConcerts is taking over, it's going to help benefit the music scene and city of Hartford as well."

Deals of the theater sale, including the price, have not been released.
