10/20: Spooky Strolls and Actor/Songwriters

SPOOKY SIPS AND STEPS: Step out on a brisk New London evening and warm yourself up with a little food, wine and beer. Head to the city's historic waterfront district for the "Spooky" Fall Food Stroll. Sample the seasonal delights of dozens of the area's best restaurants, snack and shop in the stores and enjoy the spirit of the season. Plus, if you wear a costume, you get a special treat. Tickets are $35. Get your strolling shoes on from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

LIVE AND UNPLUGGED: Just when I thought you couldn't possibly be any dumber, you go and do something like this -- and totally redeem yourself! Sure, you know him as Harry from Dumb and Dumber, but did you know that Jeff Daniels is also an accomplished musician? Well, in case you didn't, he is. And the singer/songwriter side of Jeff Daniels is bringing his guitar to Infinity Hall in Norfolk. Joining Daniels on the evening's playbill (do they have those for concerts?) is Krista Detor. Tickets for tonight's 8 p.m. show are $30 and $40.

SIGHTS AND SOUNDS: Their name is derived from a Buddhist belief in Nirvana, but their sound is derived from Western influences like punk and hardcore. Check out Senses Fail tonight at the Webster in Hartford. The band mixes in poetry, literature, religion, philosophy and spirituality to create an image and a sound that's all their own. Queens rockers Bayside are also on the evening's agenda. Tickets are $15. The show starts at 6:30 p.m.
