STAR CROSSED:  We all know the story, but you've probably never seen Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet like this.  "Shakespeare's R&J” is debuting tonight at TheaterWorks in Hartford.  The play spins the bard's classic tale of doomed lovers, into a modern story of teenage awakening.  The play is set at a modern prep school, where the students are studying the original play.  Slowly but surely, the lines between reality and the play begin to blur, as the students explore their desires, vulnerability and sexuality.  Tickets run from $12-$48 depending on when you see the show.  Click here for showtimes and more info.

DRINKING FOR A CAUSE:  Who doesn't love it?  There is a Wine Tasting & Auction tonight at the New Haven Country Club in Hamden.  Enjoy an evening of delicious wines, great food and live entertainment.  It's all to benefit the Junior League of Greater New Haven.  $50.  6:30-9:30pm.

NUMBER 5?:  They may be called Mambo Sons, but their music is pure rock and roll.  The New York trio is heading to Hartford tonight to hit the stage at Black-eyed Sally's BBQ & Blues.  The trio formed in 1999, and has four albums to their credit.  Tonight, they are celebrating the release of their latest effort, Heavy Days.  7:30pm.
