11/25: Happy Thanksgiving Eve

OK, so it's the night before Thanksgiving.  And that means its the annual night when we all go home again and get together with old friends.  But are you tired of the same old bars on the same Main Streets?  Us too.  So without further ado, and you know how we like ado, here's a quick rundown of ideas to kick your Thanksgiving Eve up a notch (thanks, Emeril).

THE OAKDALE:  Head to Wallingford tonight to see Long Island quartet Brand New.  Brand New has been growing in popularity since their 2006 major-label debut, and their latest effort "Daisy" is their highest charting to date.  Sharing the bill are post-hardcore legends Glassjaw and Crime In Stereo.  Tickets are $16.50.  7:30pm.

TOADS PLACENew Haven is the place to get funky tonight.  Bridgeport's own Deep Banana Blackout are taking the stage at the Elm City Hot Spot.  Tickets are $20.  9pm.

HARTFORD ROAD CAFE:  It's 88MPH tonight at the Manchester cafe (deceiving name until you realize that it's on Hartford Road in Manchester.)  Get down to your favorite hits of the '80s and '90s.  8pm-midnight.

ROOKIES:  The Cromwell Bar and Grille will be packed with uber-macho football fans Thursday night, but tonight, things are a touch more on the sensitive side.  It's acoustic rock night.  Enjoy the music, the mass of TVs and a full kitchen open until midnight.  The music begins at 7pm.

INFINITY MUSIC HALL:  Over in Norfolk, it's the internationally acclaimed, award-winning singer/songwriter/guitarist/actor Jeff PitchellPitchell's explosive guitar playing and impassioned vocals have drawn rave reviews, and comparisons to Stevie Ray Vaughan, Hendrix and BB King.  Joining Pitchell are Texas Flood with Joe Bouchard from Blue Oyster Cult.  Tickets are $15-$30.  8pm.
