3/9: Tiaras and Punk Rock

CROWNING GLORY: Ladies, want to embrace your inner princess? Head to Fleming's in West Hartford for Tiara Tuesday. Revelers will be able to enjoy free hors d'oeuvres and a special "Top o' the tiara" cocktail. You can either wear your own tiara, or you can purchase one for $15. (Guys, we say rock the tiara too!). All of the proceeds of the event go to Dress for Success Hartford, an organization devoted to promoting the economic independence of disadvantaged women. Event is from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

ACID NEUTRALIZERS: Fans of punk will be headed to Hartford tonight. Illinois band, Alkaline Trio will be taking the stage at the Webster. The band is on tour right now, promoting their latest effort, "This Addiction," which hit store shelves (are there store shelves anymore?) in February. The band will be joined by Cursive, The Dear and Departed. Tickets are $18.50. Event is at 6:30 p.m.

DAYTIME DRAMA: OK, we know this is a space for things you're doing tonight, but if you've got some time during the day, head on down to Fairfield. The Fairfield Theatre Company-StageOne, is offering Play with your Food, an afternoon of three original one-act plays by local playwrights. The shows include a play that takes a skewed look at a mother-daughter relationship, a play written entirely in verse and a play that addresses questions about behaving like a grown up. And it's not just the drama on the menu. Guests will also get to enjoy lunch from Spic & Span Market with the price of admission. Tickets are $42.  Doors open at 11:30 a.m.
