5/27: Carrie On Again

FEELIN' SEXY:  It may be the single biggest chick flick of the summer (and we feel pretty safe calling it a chick flick). "Sex and the City 2" opens around the world tonight (we think the working title was 'The Wrath of Carrie').  And before or after you and your girlfriends see the latest installment of the series on the big screen, head over to Burton's Grill in South Windsor.  From 4pm-10m you can discuss all things SJP in the lounge while enjoying complimentary snacks and sipping cocktails inspired by the flick.  The drinks include the Carrie Cosmo, the Samantha, The Miranda, The Charlotte and even the Mr. Big Chocolatini.  Four lucky folks who take part in the fun even will have a chance to win movie tickets.

PARK, BARK, LARK, HARK:  Enjoy some fun with rhyming tonight in Willimantic.  The annual "Poetry in the Park" series resumes tonight at the Julia de Burgos Park.  The series brings local, state and international poets to the park, which is named after the famed Puerto Rican poet.  The series runs throughout the summer, but for tonight's purposes, get ready to hear some verses from the Thread City Poets, including Alexandria Sergio and Lisa Sornberger.  The reading is free, open to the public and begins at 6 p.m.

BRINGIN' THE BLUES:  She grew up with one of the most critically acclaimed guitarists in the music biz.  But it didn't take long for Shemekia Copeland, the daughter of Johnny Clyde Copeland to make a name for herself in the world of the blues.  Copeland busted out of her late father's shadow with her debut album, "Turn the Heat Up," before she turned 20.  Since then, Shemekia's won her share of awards, and has shared the stage with the likes of the Stones, Buddy Guy, B.B. King and even John Mayer.  Copeland is on the road supporting her latest effort, "Never Going Back."  Tonight, she's playing Infinity Hall in Norfolk.  Tickets are $30-$40.  The show starts at 8 p.m.
