8/19: Hot Flashes, Coffee & Cigarettes and Sunflowers

THE CHANGE:  This one might be perfect for ladies' night (guys, do I hear fantasy football draft?) "Menopause the Musical" debuts tonight at the Bushnell. Picture this, four women with nothing in common meet at the "unmentionables" counter at a department store. The women bond over a black lace bra, talking about everything from memory loss, night sweats, hot flashes, mood swings, wrinkles and chocolate binges (wow, menopause seems like a great time!) Tickets are $35 to $45 (be sure to bring your granny panties!) Starts at 8 p.m.

MOVIE NIGHT:  Looking for a night at the movies, but don't want to spend the $100 for tickets and $600 for popcorn and soda (hyperbole is fun)? Anyway, you can get the great entertainment without digging into your wallet tonight in New London. Head to Hygienic Art Park for their free weekly movie series. Tonight's feature is "Coffee & Cigarettes." The movie, starring the likes of Roberto Benigni, Steven Wright, Steve Buscemi and Iggy Pop, is a series of vignettes that all have coffee and cigarettes in common.  8 to 11 p.m.

GET LOST:  Famous for its corn maze in the fall, Lyman Orchards is letting you embrace your inner path explorers once again. Starting today, the orchard is opening up its Sunflower Maze. This year's maze consists of 235,000 flowers, with a path cut into the shape of a super-sized guitar. It's sure to have you strumming a confused tune (sorry, really bad joke). $1 of every ticket sold will be donated to the Connecticut Children's Medical Center. It's just $9 to "get lost. "
