9/21: Country, Rap and Comedy

ROCKING THE COUNTRY:  Ever see Roadhouse?  The classic 80's Patrick Swayze set in a dive bar out in the country?  Yeah, you know the one.  Well, we picture Commander Cody Band would fit right in at a bar like that.  The band mixes Country, Rockabilly and Blues on the foundation of a Boogie-Woogie Piano and barroom Country music.  Their latest album has the classic title, "Dopers Drunks and Everyday Losers."  Tonight, you can catch Commander Cody Band at the Wolf Den at Mohegan.  The free show starts at 8 p.m.

ROCKING THE RYHMES:  From Rockabilly to Hip Hop.  Head over to Toad's Place in New Haven tonight to check out up-and-coming rapper Wiz Khalifa.  Wiz (hopefully he doesn't mind us calling him Wiz) burst onto the national scene in 2006, and has been rising up the hip hop ranks ever since.  Tonight's show is at 9 p.m.  Tickets are $18.

ROCKING THE JOKES:  You've laughed to them online.  Now it's your chance to see them in person.  The College Humor Live Tour is stopping in Connecticut.  Head to the John Lyman Center for the Performing Arts  at Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven to see website stars Jake and Amir along with comic Matt McCarthy.  They promise to be just as funny in person as they are on their website, but tonight, you have to wear pants.  Tickets are $10.  The show starts at 8 p.m.
