9/7: Blockheads

BUSH'S BRAIN VS. OBAMACARE:  It's an evening of current events at Yale tonight. Karl Rove, Republican strategist, Fox News talking head and former senior adviser to President George W. Bush will take to the stage at Yale Law School Auditorium. Rove will debate the Yale Political Union on the topic "Resolved:  Repeal Obamacare." The debate is free and open to the public. The show (and we do mean show) gets underway at 7:30 p.m.

CURSE YOU: With a name like F*@%ed uP, you'd almost have to be some sort of hardcore band, and the Toronto six-piece punk band certainly lives up to its name. You're in store for a night of tough, brash and loud music if you find yourself at Toad's Place tonight. F*@%ed Up is known for putting on a one-of-a kind live show, which includes the lead singer using razor blades to cut himself a la the WWE. Tickets for tonight's show are $14. The show starts at 8 p.m.

BLOCK PARTY: We all played with blocks when we were kids--some of us still do--but did you know you could have turned that love of those little wooden pieces into an art career? That's what's behind a new art exhibit on display now at the Artwell Gallery in Torrington. Fifty five artists from around the country were sent a package containing three blocks, with the instruction to simply create, and, that's exactly what they did. The exhibit is open until 5 p.m. daily.
