A North Haven teenager is advancing to Hollywood for the next round of "American Idol."

Gabi Carrubba has lived out her dream, performing for the judges on the hit television show.

Carrubba, 16, told "American Idol" host Ryan Seacrest she's been watching the show since season one and was ready for her big moment and she was hoping for Steven Tyler's signature look when he likes what he hears.

The teenager's tap dancing experience likely prepared her for the pressure, as she entered a room filled with cameras, not to mention superstars Jennifer Lopez, Tyler and Randy Jackson.

Carrubba sang a verse from Maroon Five's "Sunday Morning" and wowed her famous onlookers.

Tyler told Carrubba she nailed it.

"This may be your magic moment," he said.

Jennifer Lopez called her a natural and compared her voice to Luther Vandross. Randy Jackson gave Carrubba the final nod of approval, saying "You were born to do this -- welcome to Hollywood!"

Now, a Connecticut native is one step closer to becoming the next "American Idol."
