If Twain Could Tweet, What Would He Say?

Grumpy? Hardly. Mark Twain would've been all over the web.

If the master of stories like "The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calavaras County," and the creator of Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer were around and clicking today, we’re betting he’d have the funniest status updates on Facebook.

So at the Mark Twain House Tuesday night, a group will discuss how the literary genius would have used social media.

Michael Buckley, Connecticut native and proprietor of the uber-popular YouTube entertainment Web site “What the Buck”, is leading the discussion.

Also on the panel: Brent Robertson of the Hartford advertising agency Fathom, Caitlin Thayer, Assistant Manager of Visitor Services at the Mark Twain House & Museum and Greg Wood, president of Boston’s Woodhouse Agency, which specializes in social media.

Twain’s most famous quotes are mostly one-liners, so he might be OK with the 140-character limit.

Actually, a quick Twitter search shows a slew of Twain quotes that fit perfectly into the microblogging world. He was clearly on to more than just great storytelling.

The guy who said, "anyone who can only think of one way to spell a word obviously lacks imagination," might even be OK with Tweetese and LOLs. But, we’ll never know for sure.
