Mystic Art Festival This Weekend

A celebration of creativity and craftsmanship will begin this weekend.

The 55th annual Mystic Outdoor Art Festival will exhibit the work of more than 270 visual artists and 60 crafters between Saturday and Sunday.

All genres, mediums and facets of art will be displayed in the admission-free event.

But there’s more than just viewing to be done in Mystic .

The Children’s Art Park will host several free activities during the day in various locations. The Mystic Arts Center, at 9 Water Street, will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with hat-making workshops, Eye Spy gallery hunts and a Chalk Art Challenge.

Mystic River Park on Cottrell Street will offer activity stations and projects for children and adults, all hosted by local non-profit organizations between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.  Visitors are encouraged to create artwork of their own throughout the festival at these stations.

Face painting and balloon creations will be available at Mystic Art Center, Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center, and the Noank Baptist Church throughout Saturday. The same services will be offered at the Little Learners Children’s Center and Lyman Allyn Art Museum from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday.

Dancer Christina Poland from Luna Sea, a puppet and blacklight dance show, will perform 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.

Food and drink vendors will also be stationed throughout the festival amongst the many other dining and tourist attractions Mystic has to offer.

The festival will be held Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and  Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. More information can be found on the Mystic Chamber of Commerce Website.
