Prepare to Get Your “Geek” On

ConnectiCon is coming to Hartford this weekend.

This weekend, the Hartford Convention Center will host “ConnectiCon,” one of New England's largest pop culture events.

“ConnectiCon” caters to fans of many different genres of entertainment, including anime, science fiction, fantasy, comic books, collectible card games, video games, role-playing games, board games, horror, collectible miniatures and numerous others.

Official dates and times for the events are as follows:

  • Friday, July 7, 8 a.m. to midnight
  • Saturday, July 8, 8 a.m. to midnight
  • Sunday, July 9, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

In addition to the opportunity to meet and hobnob with fellow fans, ConnectiCon will offer several events throughout the weekend including various “Cosplay” (costume play) activities such as chess, craftsmanship contest, masquerade contest, weakest link and a dating game.

Today is the last day to pre-register for the convention, you can buy cash-only tickets at the door. Admission fees are as follows:

  • All weekend: $60
  • Friday only: $30
  • Saturday only: $40
  • Sunday only: $25

Parking at the Hartford Convention Center will cost $15 per day with discount rates for multiple-day passes.

Organizers note that more than 7,000 fans attended ConnectiCon last year and are hopeful that attendance will continue to grow through the power of word-of-mouth.

The lineup of guests includes notable voice actors from television and video games including Jon St. John, Rachel Robinson, Carlos Ferro and Christopher Smith and others.
