Russell Simmons is the epitome of success. He co-founded the mega label Def Jam and produced and managed Run DMC, Whodini and the Beastie Boys. He also created the Phat Farm fashion empire and has done work in the movie business.
Today, he will be at James Hillhouse High School in New Haven at 12:30 p.m. to talk to students about becoming successful as young adults.
The Greater New Haven Branch NAACP is hosting the event about financial achievement and social activism.
Simmons is also the author of “Super Rich: A Guide to Having it All,” which came out this month.
At 2:30 p.m., he’ll be The Rodrick Gilchrist Fashion House in New Haven for an event sponsored by R. J. Julia Booksellers, The Community Foundation of Greater New Haven and Citizen’s Bank.
Bloomberg Businessweek calls the book “Buddhism for the boardroom,” where Simmons recommends approaching all work with a smile.
According to Penguin Books, which published the book, Simmons uses spiritual savvy and street-smart wisdom to “offer a new definition of wealth-and share timeless principles for developing an unshakable sense of self that can weather any financial storm.”
