Santa Pub Crawl In Ho-Ho-Hartford

Santa will be drinking for a cause

Catching a glimpse of the jolly, old fat man in the red suit is not uncommon during the holiday season. But seeing dozens of Santas in bars around downtown Hartford? Now that only happens once a year.

The 2009 Santa Pub Crawl is Saturday, Dec. 5 in Hartford. The event, sponsored by the Hartford Wanderers Rugby Club, raises money for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. In the past three years, organizers have collected $9,000 for the cause.

The pub crawl starts on Pratt Street at 7 p.m. and makes stops at Vaughn's Public House, City Steam Brewery, McKinnon's Irish Pub, Pig's Eye Pub, Black Bear Saloon and just added this year, Red Rock Cafe. Download a pledge sheet for collecting donations and join the fun.

The Santa suits are not necessary to participate, but you should at least dress up with some holiday bling.

There are also prizes for the top fundraisers as well as gift certificates for the "Naughtiest" Mrs./Ms. Claus. For more information and an event itinerary, visit the Hartford Santas Web site.
