A lot of people head to the Connecticut shoreline this time of year, but you don't have to just hit the beach. CT Bike Tours offers you a chance to cycle along Long Island Sound and then hop onto a boat for a ride through the Thimble Islands.

The weekend tours start at the Guilford Green and then wind about 13 miles to Stony Creek. That's where you'll hop aboard the Volsunga IV, operated by Captain Bob, for a narrated boat ride. Your tour can end after the boat ride, or you can cycle back to the Guilford Green, with a stop at the historic Henry Whitfield House on the way.

Tours last about four hours. Bikes, helmets and the boat ride are included. Tours are held on Saturdays and Sundays, by reservation only.
