World-Renowned Sitar Player to Perform at UConn

Anoushka Shankar will be at the Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts at UConn’s Storrs campus at 7:30 p.m. tonight

Sitar player Anoushka Shankar is performing in Connecticut tonight.

She studied the sitar exclusively with her father Ravi Shankar, whose work George Harrison of the Beatles embraced.

Tonight, Anoushka Shankar will be at the Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts at UConn’s Storrs campus at 7:30 p.m.

She is the youngest performer ever to be nominated for a “Best World Music Album” Grammy and has shared the stage with Sting, Elton John, Madonna, Jethro Tull and James Taylor.

Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts is located at 2132 Hillside Road.

Tickets are $30 and $28.
