Wozniacki Commits to New Haven Open

The 20-year-old is the top-ranked player in world.

Caroline Wozniacki is the top-ranked tennis player in the world and she’s coming to New Haven again this summer to play in the New Haven Open at Yale, tournament director Anne Worcestor said on Thursday.

The 20-year-old from Denmark has never lost in New Haven. She's won all three times she entered the tournament. After her victory last year, Wozniacki advanced to the semifinals at the U.S. Open.

The New Haven Open is now just a women’s event. Organizers dropped the men’s tournament that had been a part of the week for the past several seasons.

The event runs from Aug. 21-27.

Ticket packages for the New Haven Open at Yale are already on sale and daily tickets go on sale starting June 1.
