Princess Diana Exhibition Comes to Foxwoods

This will be the only stop in the northeast.

An exciting, award-winning exhibit chronicling the life and work of the late Princess Diana of Wales will be making its way to Foxwoods Resort Casino this week.

Diana, A Celebration, begins on Sept. 16 and runs through Jan. 15 of next year at Foxwoods’s Great Cedar Exhibition Area, but the iconic wedding dress will be unveiled on Monday.

The exhibition contains nine galleries filled with more than 150 objects, ranging from Princess Diana’s royal wedding gown and 27 of her designer dresses to family heirlooms, paintings, personal mementos, rare home videos and photos.

The items are on loan from Althorp Estate, the Spencer family’s 500-year-old home in England.

The exhibition also contains other items from the estate, including two diamond tiaras, family jewels and Earl Spencer’s tribute to his sister at the funeral in Westminster Abbey, the score and lyrics of the Elton John - Bernie Taupin composition of “Candle in the Wind.”

All profits made from the exhibition go directly to the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund, which has given more than $2 million to charities around the world.

Connecticut will be the only stop in the northeast for the exhibit.

Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors and Dream Card holders and $16 for children under 11. They are on sale now through Foxwoods and will be available for purchase through Ticketmaster on Friday, July 22 at 10 a.m.
