11/3: Beer Dinners, Reggae and Dissecting Diseases

Sushi Samba

From pork chops, to pumpkin soup, it's all about the food, and the beer at the Wood-n-Tap in Hartford tonight.

CHEERS!:  We've all heard of wine tasting dinners, but it's not just grapes and grub that go hand in hand.  Beer is what's for dinner tonight in Hartford at the Wood-n-Tap's latest Harpoon Dinner.  For $45, you can enjoy a three-course meal meticulously prepared and paired with different Harpoon Brews.  Dinner includes three-cheese pumpkin and ale soup, duck breast, pork chops and pumpkin créme brulee.  Seating is limited so call early for reservations. 6:30pm.

MIGHTY MUSIC:  After more than 30 years in the music business, "The Mighty Diamonds" have pretty much seen everything.  Tonight, the roots reggae trio will be at Toad's Place in New Haven.  They have released a staggering 40 albums over the years, and is one of the groups who made "Pass the Kouchie" (later covered by Musical Youth as "Pass the Dutchie") a hit.  Tickets are $20.  8pm.

DISSECTING DISEASES:  Face it, the folks handling the Swine Flu pandemic could use all the help they can get right now.  Head to the Peabody Museum in New Haven to check out an exhibit that will give you all the tools you need to cure all the world's diseases.  (Okay, probably not, but who knows right?).  Disease Detectives and Solving the Puzzle is a hands-on multimedia exhibit that invites visitors to solve infectious disease mysteries.  Guests can observe symptoms, interact with patients, analyze lab tests and identify the culprit microbes.  (It was the butler microbe!).  The exhibit is free with museum admission ($5-$7).  10am-5pm.
