HAKUNA MATATA: From Simba and Nala to Mufasa and Scar and Timon and Pumba, all your favorite characters are back in Connecticut. The stunning stage adaption of "The Lion King" is once again hitting the Bushnell in Hartford. For those of you who don't know (and seriously, go get yourself a DVD player), the show is a Micky-fied Shakespearean coming of age story that includes jealousy, revenge, maturity, love and death (all told through the eyes of lions, hyenas, a meerkat and a warthog.) The stage adaptation is filled breath-taking effects and jaw-dropping music and performances. Tickets are $20.50-$128. The show runs through Feb. 14 (Guys, Valentine's Day is just around the corner and you won't be disappointed). Click here for show times and more info.

PAINTINGS AND PINOTS: Head to Firebox Restaurant in Hartford for an evening of cocktails and culture. Art & Wine is an exhibition of artworks by the current artists-in-residence of the workshops program at Billings Forge Community Works. The art includes works comprised of recycled materials, abstract and lyrical paintings, graphite drawings, haunting landscapes and animal prints and sculptures. And while your immersing yourself in the art, you can enjoy a wine tasting featuring organically driven wines from T. Edwards Wines CT. Show's from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

ANTHEM INDIE:  Fans of under-the-radar music, listen up. Head to the Daniel Street Club in Milford tonight to see Retribution Gospel Choir. Since they debuted in 2005, the band has toured with everyone from the Meat Puppets to Wilco. This month, they're kicking off a three-month international tour to support their second album (appropriately titled "2").  The album is a noisy, anthemic rock record and is sure to have you out of your seat. Tickets are $12. Show's at 8 p.m.
