ALL THE WORLD'S A STAGE: It's a play based on a play that has a play within the play. Tonight at Yale's Iseman Theater, catch the student production of "Every Other Hamlet in the Universe." The play is part of the Yale School of Drama's Carlotta Festival of New Plays. "Universe" is about a computer programmer whose actor-father's life goal was to play Hamlet. Now, 10 years after his death, the son has returned home to avenge the father's failings by performing Hamlet in his mom's basement. The two other shows in the Festival include "Elijah," about a Brooklyn student who becomes a Don Juan on a trip to Paris, and "The Things are Against Us," about disappearing sisters and the secretes of a mysterious house. 'Back when I was in college, I had my own radio show, professing myself (however falsely) to be an expert on indie music. One of the bands that seemed to always find itself on my playlist was Pedro the Lion. Since college is too far in the rear view to think about, I haven't listened to them in a while. But, as you're about to read, the music has come storming back.' OK, end of tangent. After making a name for himself as Pedro the Lion's front man, David Bazan has embarked on a successful solo career (Paste Magazine even named him one of the 100 Best Living Songwriters). Tonight, you can enjoy the introspective singer-songwriter's talents at The Space in Hamden. Tickets for the show are $12. Show's at 7 p.m.
STROLLING ALONG: Boy, time flies when you're having fun-filled tonights. Can you believe it's been a year since we talked about the Spring Food Stroll in New London? Well the calendar has come full circle, and Main Street will once again be bustling with Stroll activity tonight. More than 50 restaurants and specialty shops in New London's Waterfront district will have their fare and wares on display. Strollers can take advantage of special discounts, promotions and demonstrations, all while enjoying performances by local musicians throughout downtown.
