GET FOLKY AND GREEN: This weekend, New Haven's Edgerton Park hosts the 2009 Connecticut Folk Festival & Green Expo. Amos Lee and Caravan of Thieves are among the big names.  This year there's also a Green Works Job Fair and Symposium at the University of New Haven Friday afternoon. Some events are free, but most will cost you at least $15. Rain or Shine, click here for a complete schedule.

THERE'S MORE THAN PIZZA:  Lovely, historic downtown Mystic is hosting the Taste of Mystic Saturday.  More than 30 restaurants are participating and admission's free!  There's also live entertainment.  Runs all three days, starting Friday at 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday at 11 a.m.

IT'S ALL FAIR:  We won't lie.  We're in love with fairs.  Fried dough.  Midways.  Fried corndogs.  Rides.  Fried Oreos.  There's nothing better in the fall.  This weekend we start with the North Haven Fair (Friday, 3 p.m.) and the Hebron Harvest Fair (Friday, 12 p.m.)

BRACE FOR THE BUFFALO: David Mamet's "American Buffalo" takes center stage this weekend at Hartford's TheaterWorks. It's a "raw, urgent, riotous" play about three small-time crooks who try to steal a priceless coin collection. Um, you should be 16 or older for this one. Best part: There are some complimentary tickets available for downtown Hartford residents, thanks to UT.  Call for details.  8 p.m.

GET AWAY TO A GEM: How about taking a little drive to a place that will feel like a world away?  The Norwalk Seaport Association is holding its annual Oyster Festival, as it has for 31 years.  There's a Bar-B-Q Pit featuring prizes, food, demonstrations and entertainment.  And Big Bad voodoo Daddy swinging on Saturday night.
