Manchester McDonald's Turns 50

The West Center Street chain honored its anniversary with 50-cent prices.

Customers who stopped by McDonald’s on West Center Street in Manchester on Monday were treated to a pleasant surprise: rollback prices.

The privately owned and operated franchise turned 50 on Monday.

Franchise owner Edward Walsh discounted burgers, fries and drinks to 50 cents in honor of the milestone.

Longtime customer George Irwin was there to join the celebration.

“The price was right,” Irwin told NBC Connecticut, recalling the restaurant’s early days. “I think the originals were 15 cents and we could afford it.”
