Sweet Tweet: Sonic Heads to Danbury

Tweet this: the drive-in experience will arrive in Danbury this spring.

Sonic, the 1950s style carhop restaurant is expected to move into the parking lot of Xpect Discounts this spring, Mayor Mark Boughton tweeted on Wednesday.

The first Sonic arrived in Connecticut with much fanfare over the summer when it opened in Wallingford.

Franchisee Rob Kopel told the Connecticut Postlast summer that he expects to hire 100 people for the Danbury restaurant location.

Sonic started as a hamburger and root beer stand in Oklahoma in 1953. There are more than 3,500 Sonic drive-ins coast to coast.

Several other Sonics could be opening in the state, including in  Orange, according to the Connecticut Post
